MUSIC at Renaissance Performing Arts Academy

Welcome to a new year at Renaissance Performing Arts Academy.

All of the teachers are excited about getting back into the flow of music lessons and have many exciting things planned for the students this year. As members of MTNA, PianoGuild, NATS, etc, there are many opportunities for performance, competition and critique.

The students who studied during the summer have been hard at work preparing for various festivals and competitions and they have all learned so very much. It is not too late for those just getting started to prepare. Ask your teacher what is available for you.

As we all get back into the normal school semester calendar, please don't forget your music lessons. Schedules are filling up quickly and if you haven't registered for lessons yet, PLEASE contact your teacher directly or the director of the Academy.

Please click on the link at the top that goes to POLICY. This policy is to be read by all students/parents and signed and returned to your teacher who will make a copy for you to keep. This is very important for us to have on hand as is the enrollemnt form which your teacher will give you. Make sure it is filled out, signed and returned to lessons.

All PIANO students will be receiving the PIANO EXPLORER magazine each month as a result of paid registration fees. This is a wonderful magazine for all ages, filled with historical information about music, composers and instruments as well as games and music for you to learn on your own. Students should be receiving their first issue in September. Look for it!

FLUTE TALK and THE INSTRUMENTALIST will be given to other instrumentalist as lessons. These magazines are excellent to read and give some great helpful hints for playing. These are included with your paid registration fee.

We are excited about what we are doing this year at Renaissance Music and one of the things is a NAME CHANGE for the school. Are you creative? We are looking for a great name that encompasses what Renaissance is looking to become. We are a PERFORMING ARTS academy that is growing and enbracing many mediums of performing arts. What are we looking for in a new name?

  • Not something "trendy" or "regionally" named
  • Strong, easy to pronounce and spell
  • shows that we are a performing arts school
  • has an easy story to explain it's meaning/origin

Do you think you have a new name for us? We will take entries until the first of December and if we pick your entry, you will receive a music gift card to Music and Arts or J W Pepper. You will also receive credit for having named the school. Put your thinking caps on and give your teacher ideas -- he/she will give you an entry form if you ask.

CALL US! Get started learning and enjoying music TODAY!

  • AMERICAN IDOL!

Recently American Idol was in the Orlando area holding auditions for a future series. CONGRATULATIONS to Devonta Williams, a voice student with Alice-Margaret, who made it to the second round of auditions. Devonta will not be on the show but we all say CONGRATULATIONS for making it further than many others. Devonta is looking forward to the next audition date.

  • GREAT JOB

What a great Spring recital we had on the 20th of May. Students, you all should be VERY proud of your accomplishments and your abilities. Nearly 200 people were on hand to support all the students of RPAA and what a spread we had afterwards at the reception! I notived that there were quite a few friends and extended family members and that is always encouraging to the students.

Thank you for providing so many wonderful finger foods so we could all mingle and meet. The receptions are such a vital part of the academy's opportunities to talk and congratulate others on a job well done.

Pictures should be up soon on the website so please keep your a look out for them.

If you haven't let your teacher know your availablity for the summer, please do that as soon as possible so that the summer schedule can get solidified.
